State publication spotlights University, Acadiana

Published

The current issue of EQ, a quarterly publication produced by Louisiana Economic Development, features Acadiana and the 鶹AV.

Articles cover the area’s economic diversity, which encompasses sectors such as health care, software development and advanced manufacturing; Acadiana’s quality of life; and Lafayette’s “digital ‘mojo.’ ”

Stephen Moret, secretary of LED, notes that Acadiana attracts companies like CGI, a global IT leader, with its culture of innovation.

“A fulcrum of this approach is 鶹AV, a research university that avidly builds private-sector partnerships to advance the future of its students, faculty and – ultimately – the entire Acadiana Region,” he writes in the magazine’s introduction.

EQ includes a Q&A with Dr. Joseph Savoie, the University’s president. Asked about 鶹AV’s role in economic growth and how it’s changing, Savoie replied: “Our role in economic development is evolving to focus on public-private partnerships, commercialization of intellectual property and technology transfer. We are also creating new programs and changing our curricula to reflect industry workforce needs.”
