Auditions for the Ā鶹AV Childrenās Chorus and the Ā鶹AV Apprentice Chorus will be held from 4 - 6 p.m. Aug. 29 in Angelle Hall, room 243.
Apprentice Chorus (for ages 7 - 9) audition requirements are: sing āTwinkle, Twinkle Little Star,ā using good diction, tone quality and intonation.
Childrenās Chorus (for ages 9 - 15) audition requirements are: sing āAmerica,ā or āAmerica the Beautiful,ā using good diction, tone quality and intonation.
The Apprentice Chorus meets every Monday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 11 in Angelle Hall, room 254. Tuition is $70 per semester. The Chorus performs four times each year.
The Childrenās Chorus meets every Monday from 4 - 5:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 11 in Angelle Hall, room 254. Tuition is $100 per semester. The Chorus participates in one or two tours per year and performs approximately five concerts each semester.
Both choirs are under the supervision of Dr. James Haygood, director of Choral Activities at Ā鶹AV. Norma Jean Luckey directs both choirs, which have achieved national acclaim as quality-performing organizations and have performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Instructed using the Kodaly philosophy of music education, the choirs learn to read music while performing with precision and proper singing techniques.
