Âé¶¹AV Opera Theatre to Celebrate 27 Years with Gala Concert

The Âé¶¹AV Opera Theatre will present a special Opera Gala Concert on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in Ducrest-Gilfry Auditorium in Angelle Hall. This one-night-only event will celebrate 27 years of the Opera Theatre and honor the career of Shawn Roy, esteemed Director of Opera and Musical Theatre.

The concert will feature over 45 singers, including current students and alumni, some traveling from out of state, performing a selection of memorable pieces from past productions. The Âé¶¹AV Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Michael Blaney, and the Âé¶¹AV Wind Ensemble, conducted by retired faculty William Hochkeppel, will provide accompaniment. Additionally, four pianists who have collaborated with Shawn on Opera and Musical Theatre productions throughout the years will join the performance.

Audiences can look forward to selections from beloved works such as Carmen, The Magic Flute, Cosi Fan Tutte, Les Misérables, The Mikado, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Hansel and Gretel, Nunsense, and The Outsiders, among others.

The performance is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., arrive early for the best seats.
